I’ve got my coffee here this morning, and today’s writing prompt….

I’ve got to tell you the truth: I don’t know.

All this fictional stuff is a little sideways for me. I’m more of a nonfiction guy. A fantasy pet or Pokémon just doesn’t do much for me.

Now, I’ve always thought having a lion or a tiger would be incredible. Under the right circumstances, I would absolutely do that. I’m not saying they couldn’t be pets. They’re just not something that fits my life or my timeframe right now.

But at least a lion is real.

That’s probably the biggest thing with me: I’m a tangible guy.

I want to build real businesses. I want real buildings, real cars, real land, real freedom, and real wealth. I want to create things I can see, touch, drive, improve, and eventually hand down to somebody else.

That doesn’t mean I don’t dream.

Trust me, I dream big. Probably bigger than most people. I believe your dreams should be a little out of line with your present circumstances. They should stretch you. They should make other people wonder whether you’re crazy.

But there still has to be a road connecting where you are today to where you want to go.

Maybe the road is long. Maybe nobody else can see it yet. Maybe you have to build half of it yourself. That’s fine. But if there’s no possible road between the dream and reality, then it’s no longer a goal. It’s just nonsense.

I don’t want to spend my time escaping into an imaginary world. I want to take what’s in my head and bring it into the real world.

I want to build the shop.

I want to build the cars.

I want to grow the brands.

I want to travel the roads.

I want to create a life that most people might consider unrealistic—but one that is still completely possible.

There’s a difference between dreaming big and merely fantasizing.

A fantasy asks you to imagine something.

A real dream asks you to become somebody capable of building it.

That’s the kind of dreaming I understand.

So, if I have to answer today’s prompt, I’ll take the lion. Not because it’s some fantasy creature, but because it’s real, powerful, independent, and probably a little unreasonable.

That sounds more like me anyway.

My dreams may be big. They may be unconventional. They may even look impossible from where I’m standing today.

But they’re real.

And I intend to build them.
