What’s a skill you consider basic, that most people don’t actually know how to do?
Most people think success comes from knowing more.
I’ve learned it’s usually the opposite.
The biggest skill that should be considered “basic” is learning how to solve problems without immediately looking for someone else to save you.
Flat tire? Figure it out.
Bad alternator? Diagnose it.
Business slow? Adapt.
Customer upset? Have the conversation.
Most people freeze the moment something goes wrong. They wait for permission, they wait for perfect conditions, or they wait for someone else to fix it.
I’ve spent over 25 years in the car business, and one thing has always separated the winners from everyone else: resourcefulness.
You don’t have to know everything.
You just have to be willing to figure it out.
That one skill compounds into everything else—business, investing, relationships, fitness, and life.
Every problem you solve builds confidence for the next one.
Stop asking, “Who can do this for me?”
Start asking, “How can I figure this out?”
That’s where real freedom begins.
