What’s a movie or book that inspired you to travel?
People ask what movie or book inspired me to travel.
The truth?
It wasn’t a movie.
It wasn’t a book.
It was the realization that life gets smaller when you stop exploring.
For me, travel has never been about checking destinations off a list. It’s about chasing perspective. Every road trip, every back road, every small-town garage, and every conversation with a stranger reminds me that there’s a bigger world beyond the one inside my daily routine.
Some people dream about first-class flights and five-star resorts.
I dream about an old Chevelle pointed toward a road I’ve never driven.
A waterfront sunrise with coffee in my hand.
A cigar after a long day in the garage.
The freedom to wake up and decide where I’m going next.
That’s the kind of travel that changes you.
Ironically, the more I’ve worked on building my life, the less I’ve cared about escaping it.
Real freedom isn’t running away.
It’s creating a life you don’t need a vacation from.
Maybe that’s the greatest journey of all.
