If you could erase one trend from history, what would it be?
The trend I’d erase?
Chasing appearances instead of substance.
Somewhere along the line, people stopped caring about building a life and started caring about looking like they had one.
We started renting lifestyles instead of earning them.
Borrowing money to impress strangers.
Buying things we don’t need.
Posting highlight reels while our real lives fall apart.
Confusing followers with friendships.
Confusing attention with respect.
The result?
More anxiety.
More debt.
More comparison.
Less craftsmanship.
Less loyalty.
Less patience.
The people who actually build something meaningful usually aren’t the loudest people in the room.
They’re in the garage.
They’re in the office before sunrise.
They’re reading.
Learning.
Wrenching.
Failing.
Improving.
And showing up again tomorrow.
Real success has always been boring to watch while it’s being built.
It’s thousands of quiet decisions that nobody applauds.
I’d love to see a return to valuing skill over status.
Character over clout.
Discipline over dopamine.
Building over bragging.
Because trends come and go.
Character compounds forever.
