I Don’t Buy Cars Just to Make Money

I’ve been in the car business for more than 25 years, and if there’s one thing that’s changed, it’s this:

I don’t buy cars just because they’ll make me a quick profit anymore.

Years ago, I would’ve looked at a clean, ordinary sedan and thought, “There’s a couple thousand dollars in that.”

Today, I ask a different question.

What does this car become?

Can it teach something?

Can it tell a story?

Can it create months of content?

Can I build something people actually care about watching?

That’s why projects like the 03 Escalade make sense to me.

Sure, I could probably flip a few everyday cars and make the same amount of money with a lot less work. But an OEM+ Escalade build isn’t just another deal. It’s dozens of YouTube videos, blog posts, Shorts, Instagram reels, conversations, lessons, and ideas.

One vehicle can produce value long after it’s sold.

That’s the difference between buying inventory and building an asset.

Every project I take on now has to pass a simple test.

Will it strengthen my brand?

Will I enjoy working on it?

Will it teach someone something?

Will I still be proud of it five years from now?

If the answer is yes, I’ll take a hard look.

If the answer is no, I don’t care how easy the money looks.

I’m not trying to own the most cars.

I’m trying to build a business that’s bigger than the next sale.

That’s why you’ll continue seeing classic cars, unique trucks, thoughtful restorations, and OEM+ builds on my channel.

They’re not always the fastest way to make money.

But they’re one of the best ways to build something that lasts.

The older I get, the more I realize this:

The best investment isn’t always the car with the biggest profit. It’s the one that pays you over and over again through knowledge, relationships, content, and opportunity.

That’s the game I’m playing now.

Most people see a vehicle.

I see an opportunity to build something bigger.

Every project I take on has to earn more than a profit. It has to create knowledge, tell a story, teach a lesson, and leave something behind that’s still valuable long after the car is gone.

I’m not chasing the next flip.

I’m building a brand, one intentional project at a time.

The best investment isn’t always the car that makes the most money. It’s the one that keeps paying you back through experience, content, relationships, and opportunity.
