Maintenance Is What Separates Winners From Everyone Else

Everyone loves the breakthrough.

Nobody talks about the maintenance.

Changing the oil.
Going to the gym.
Posting another video.
Writing another blog.
Calling a customer back.
Fixing the small problem before it becomes a big one.

None of those things are exciting.

But they’re the reason successful people stay successful.

I’ve learned this working on cars.

The difference between a vehicle that lasts 300,000 miles and one that’s worn out at 120,000 usually isn’t luck.

It’s maintenance.

Life works the same way.

Your body needs maintenance.
Your business needs maintenance.
Your relationships need maintenance.
Your mindset needs maintenance.

People are always looking for the next big opportunity while ignoring the little things that keep everything running.

The older I get, the more I respect boring.

Because boring compounds.

The daily disciplines that nobody applauds eventually become the life everybody notices.

Take care of the little things.

They’ll take care of the big things.

Maintenance isn’t glamorous.

Nobody celebrates fresh brakes, an oil change, or replacing worn-out parts.

But the people—and the machines—that last the longest are the ones that never stop taking care of the fundamentals.

The little things you maintain today become the big things you never have to fix tomorrow.
