The Power of Showing Up Before You Feel Ready

Most of the good things in my life started before I felt ready.

The business.

The YouTube channel.

The Friday Night Valet Notes lives.

The blog.

If I had waited until I felt completely prepared, I probably never would have started any of them.

That’s because feeling ready is often an illusion.

People think confidence comes first.

In reality, confidence usually comes after action.

You don’t become confident and then start.

You start, and confidence slowly follows.

I think that’s where a lot of people get stuck.

They wait for certainty.

They wait for the perfect plan.

They wait for more knowledge.

They wait for the right timing.

Meanwhile, the people making progress are simply showing up.

Not because they have all the answers.

Because they understand that the answers come from doing.

Twenty-two weeks ago, I went live for the first time.

I wasn’t an expert at it.

I didn’t know where it would lead.

I didn’t know if anyone would watch.

I just hit the button.

Twenty-two days ago, I started a blog.

Same story.

No guarantees.

No certainty.

Just a decision to begin.

Looking back, neither one required confidence.

They required courage.

The courage to look inexperienced.

The courage to make mistakes.

The courage to learn in public.

Most people think successful people are fearless.

I don’t believe that.

I think successful people simply act before they feel ready.

They understand that confidence is built through repetition.

One rep.

One post.

One video.

One conversation.

One day at a time.

The funny thing is that nobody ever feels completely ready.

Not for business.

Not for relationships.

Not for content creation.

Not for the next chapter of their life.

At some point, you have to move anyway.

And more often than not, the opportunity you’re waiting for is sitting on the other side of that first step.

So if you’re waiting to feel ready, here’s a reminder:

You probably won’t.

Start anyway.

The confidence will catch up later.

Most people wait until they feel ready.

The people who make progress start anyway.

Confidence doesn’t come first.

Action does.
